19–22 May 2025: A four-day training workshop on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory from the Livestock Sector was successfully conducted in Bumthang from 19 to 22 May 2025. Themed “Improving Data Collection, Quality, and Management for Transparency,” the workshop brought together 26 participants from various commodity centres, Dzongkhags, and gewogs across the country. The training was led by resource persons from the Department of Livestock, Thimphu:
The workshop was conducted under the Capacity-Building Initiative for Transparency (CBIT) project, with funding support provided by the Department of Environment and Climate Change.
Throughout the training, participants were introduced to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 2006 software and learned to estimate livestock-related GHG emissions at Tier 1 level using data sourced from their respective work areas. This hands-on training culminated in the preparation of GHG estimation reports, which were presented by the trainees during the closing session.
The workshop’s closing session was graced by the Director, Department of Livestock, who commended the participants for their active engagement and emphasised the importance of accurate and transparent GHG data to support Bhutan’s climate commitments.
