𝐇𝐨𝐧’𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐋𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐩𝐨’𝐬 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐤

𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒: The Department of Livestock was honored to welcome the Hon’ble Lyonpo, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock on February 2, 2024, as a part of his first official visit to the Department. The meeting with Lyonpo featured important presentations and discussions, providing a comprehensive overview of the Department’s current status and future endeavors.

The Director, DoL presented a comprehensive overview, emphasizing the accomplishments of the Department during the 12th five-year plan. Furthermore, the presentation included a strategic overview of the anticipated objectives and initiatives outlined in the forthcoming 13th five-year plans, thereby establishing a foundation for future milestones.

Lyonpo was also briefed on recent organizational reforms, a direct outcome of the Civil Service Reforms implemented in 2022, geared towards enhancing efficiency. In addressing the challenges faced by the Department, Lyonpo actively engaged with the staff, fostering an interactive dialogue.

Lyonpo’s visit reinforced the Department’s dedication to continuous improvement, aligning efforts with national goals, and addressing challenges for the advancement of the livestock sector in the country.

The meeting was participated by staff of DoL HQ, Specialist Head of National Veterinary Hospital (NVH) and Program Directors of the National Dairy Development Centre (NDDC) and the National Centre for Animal Health (NCAH).

𝟐𝟖 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲, 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐡𝐮: His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo conferred Dakyen to Lyonpo Younten Phuntsho as the Minister for Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock at the Golden Throne Room of the Trashichhodzong on 28th January 2024.

Lyonpo Younten Phuntsho has Masters of Environment Management from Yale University USA and Master of Science in Forestry Management and Administration from Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy Dehra Dun in India. His expertise is in the area of Natural Resource Management, Climate Change, Environment and Forestry.

Prior to his appointment as the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, he worked with the Department of Forest and Park Services and in the World Wildlife Fund.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock extends congratulations and a warm welcome to the newly appointed Minister. We eagerly anticipate collaborating with Lyonpo Yonten Phuntsho to build a prosperous and resilient future for our agricultural sector.
