𝟐𝟖 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲, 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐡𝐮: His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo conferred Dakyen to Lyonpo Younten Phuntsho as the Minister for Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock at the Golden Throne Room of the Trashichhodzong on 28th January 2024.

Lyonpo Younten Phuntsho has Masters of Environment Management from Yale University USA and Master of Science in Forestry Management and Administration from Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy Dehra Dun in India. His expertise is in the area of Natural Resource Management, Climate Change, Environment and Forestry.

Prior to his appointment as the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, he worked with the Department of Forest and Park Services and in the World Wildlife Fund.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock extends congratulations and a warm welcome to the newly appointed Minister. We eagerly anticipate collaborating with Lyonpo Yonten Phuntsho to build a prosperous and resilient future for our agricultural sector.

𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟖, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒: The Department of Livestock successfully concluded an extensive day-long induction program for 29 new recruits set to assume key roles such as Livestock Production Officers, Veterinary Officers, Livestock Supervisors, Pharmacist, and Administrative Assistant across various Dzongkhags and centers under the Department. Throughout the program, the newly appointed personnel received an orientation covering operational procedures across different divisions under the Department, insights into five-year and long-term plans, and a competency-based framework tailored to their respective professional levels. Engaging in both formal and informal discussions, the recruits fostered a deeper understanding of their roles and built connections.

The induction program also included briefings on the recruits’ responsibilities in delivering services to farmers in collaboration with the Dzongkhag Livestock Sectors, emphasizing the promotion of efficiency in service delivery.

In the closing remarks, the Director instilled inspiration in the new recruits, encouraging them to approach their new workplaces with unwavering eagerness to learn and acquire new skills.

The Director further encouraged them to strive for excellence, emphasizing the significance of upholding standards of integrity, principles, resilience, and a proactive willingness to make a positive impact in their roles, particularly in interactions with farmers and colleagues.
The newly appointed individuals are scheduled to commence their roles at their designated places of assignment starting January 2024.
