𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑: The Department of Livestock coordinated a consultation meeting with CSI and BLDCL, aiming to seek stakeholder insights to strengthen initiatives for exporting table trout as a premium product to the international market. Trout, among many other livestock products, has been identified as a prioritized product in the 13th five-year plan, and holds significance as a high-value commodity with substantial export potential, contributing significantly to the nation’s economy. The discussion encompassed diverse aspects like in-country production considerations, standardization measures, and the establishment of an efficient supply chain infrastructure.
Within this context, the deliberations underscored the imperative to institute effective post-production facilities such as blast freezers and cold chain amenities at strategic locations. Looking ahead, stakeholders agreed to develop a strategy in the form of a project to upscale trout imports.
The stakeholder meeting, chaired by Director DoL, was also attended by technical staff of National Research & Development Centre for Riverine and Lake Fisheries, Haa.
