𝟐𝟖 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑: The Regional Poultry Breeding Centre, Paro Khangkhu, under the Department of Livestock, recently conducted a week-long training program in poultry production for Animal Science students from the College of Natural Resources (CNR). The unit organised this training program to bring in more potential and capable individuals into the poultry sector and promote its development in the country. We are confident that the participating students’ energy and capabilities will result in effective poultry farming management practices and benefits for poultry farmers across the country.

The RPBC team shared practical knowledge and skills with 36 CNR students, covering topics such as observing chicken behavior, identifying layers and non-layers, feeding, record keeping, chick sexing, vaccination, egg grading, fertility testing, chick development, post-mortem, common poultry diseases, poultry housing and equipment, basic economic analysis, brooding preparation, beak trimming, and advanced poult management.

The farm management acknowledges the timely support and valuable contributions to the training by the Paro Dzongkhag Livestock Sector. It is expected that the knowledge gained from the training will result in positive changes in the country’s poultry sector. In the future, the farm plans to offer similar training opportunities to aspiring youths and interested farmer groups wishing to improve their poultry management practices.
